Privacy policy

Orbit collects as little information about you as possible. We don't sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers. Last updated October 8, 2026.

01

Who we are

Orbit (theorbitmag.com) is operated by Twelvenets LLC in Austin, Texas. Questions about this policy: [email protected].

02

Information we collect

  • Your email address, only if you subscribe to the Daily Brief or join a waitlist. We use it to send what you signed up for, along with any topic and frequency choices you make.
  • Basic technical data that every website receives when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver and protect the site.
  • What you send us, for example when you email a correction or a story pitch.

We do not ask for your location. The weather shown at the top of the site is for a fixed city, not for you.

03

How we use it

  • To send newsletters and updates you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To run, secure and improve the site.
  • To respond to your messages.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

04

Services the site relies on

These services receive limited technical data (such as your IP address) when you visit, under their own privacy policies:

  • Cloudflare hosts and protects the site.
  • Google Fonts delivers the site's typefaces.
  • Unsplash serves the illustrative photos on some stories.
  • The U.S. National Weather Service provides the weather in the edition bar.
  • Our newsletter provider stores subscriber emails and sends the Daily Brief.
05

Cookies

Orbit itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Some of the services above may set their own cookies. Your browser settings let you block or delete them.

06

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link at the bottom of the email.
  • Ask us to delete your email address or any other information we hold by writing to [email protected].
07

Children

Orbit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

08
